QHY183M Cooled Monochrome Camera
The QHY183M is a one-inch, 20 Megapixel back-illuminated monochrome CMOS camera with a peak Quantum Efficiency (QE) of 84%. Featuring a pixel size of 2.4um, it yields high-resolution results even with modest-sized telescopes.
Key Features:
- Anti-Amp Glow: Incorporates QHY’s technology to significantly reduce CMOS amplifier glow to a minimum.
- Advanced Cooling: Two-stage thermal electric cooling (TEC) reduces sensor temperature to -40°C or -45°C below ambient, minimizing dark noise.
- Anti-Dew & Anti-Frost: Built-in heating elements on the optical window and a desiccant tube system to keep the sensor chamber dry.
- High Speed: Capable of 15 FPS at full 20 Megapixel resolution, ideal for both deep-space and planetary imaging.
- ST-4 Guiding: Includes an opto-isolated guiding port for use as a high-precision guider.

Quantum Efficiency & Performance Curves

System Adapters
Voltage Requirement: 11V to 13.8V. 12V is optimal. Ensure cables are short to avoid voltage drops.
Connection Steps:
- Connect the 12V power supply first.
- Connect the USB 3.0 cable to the computer.
- Install the QHYCCD All-In-One Driver Pack before opening software like N.I.N.A or SharpCap.
Gain & Offset Tip:
For beginners, we recommend the Unity Gain (Set to 10). Set the Offset by checking the histogram to ensure the curve is not clipped at 0.
